3DCC was founded by Kevin Lamers and Maarten van Dijk, both experts with extensive experience in automation and composites.

Kevin studied Aerospace Engineering in Delft and worked for various companies in the composites industry. He specialized in composite engineering and automation and discovered the benefits of 3D reinforced carbon composites during his time at a leading Formula 1 team. This discovery marked the beginning of what would later become 3DCC.

Maarten graduated in Mechanical Engineering with a strong focus on plastic engineering and composites. After gaining experience at several companies, he founded his own business specializing in micro pultrusion, called DPP. After 20 successful years, Maarten decided it was time for a change and sold the company. He then worked as a freelancer for a few years to explore new insights and ideas.

Kevin and Maarten met through their shared passion for building and flying model airplanes, which also sparked their mutual interest in composites. Today, these airplanes are almost entirely made of carbon fibre. When Kevin presented his ideas on 3D reinforced carbon, they were both inspired by the potential of this material. After two years of experimenting with materials and processes, and exploring market opportunities, they decided to join forces—marking the start of 3DCC.

The 3DCC block material combines unique properties that offer solutions for challenges where standard composite techniques fall short. Due to the relatively high production costs, the material is currently most appealing for high-tech applications. However, thanks to its scalability and the potential for full automation of the production process, we see immense potential to expand its use. Our mission is to continuously innovate the material and production methods, enter new markets, and push the boundaries of possible applications.
