3DCC Carbon Block Material
The advantages of carbon composites and metals combined
Carbon composites are characterised by their an-isotropic behaviour. When the loading and shape of a part become too complex, this an-isotropic behaviour can be limiting. In such cases, we often revert to conventional isotropic materials like aluminium and steel. For instance we create aluminium hardpoints or inserts in carbon sandwich or frame constructions. Using such foreign materials in an all carbon construction can result in crack or delamination defects due to CTE differences or adhesive problems. For these situations, 3DCC block material is the ultimate all carbon solution.

This carbon composite block material utilizes all the benefits of carbon composites, but due to its 3D fibre orientation, it behaves semi isotropic and can be handled similarly to conventional materials. It allows for complex loading and can be engineered and processed with conventional techniques similar to those used for metals. And more important it is stronger than high end aluminium and only half the weight! As an added bonus, 3DCC block material boasts a unique, high-tech appearance, making it as visually striking as it is functional.
